The International Make-Up Artist Trade Show (known simply as "The Show" to the make-up world) is the only event of its kind. The make-up world's biggest gathering includes thousands of make-up artists, vendors, manufacturers and enthusiasts who discuss, display, discover and collect the best the industry has to offer. If you’ve ever wanted to learn techniques or experiment with products, make sure you’re in London in January. Make-Up Artist magazine hosts the seventh annual IMATS Jan. 30-31, 2010 at the Alexandra Palace. Make-up pros from fashion and film (including Oscar®, BAFTA and Saturn award-winners) will be there to provide education and demonstrations; new products will also debut here and make-up secrets will be revealed! The show is open to the public. No make-up artist credentials are required to get you in the door.

During the mid-'90s, there were no trade shows specifically for make-up artists, although cosmetic companies had expressed a desire for such an event. Knowing just how much education could be shared, Make-Up Artist magazine publisher Michael Key held the first International Make-Up Artist Trade Show in August 1997. It allowed artists to customize what they wanted to see, and it offered a diverse mix of presentations, products, demonstrations and education from some of the biggest names in the business. Like Make-Up Artist magazine, IMATS continues to educate and connect make-up artists from around the world.
